From Start To Finish...

I've meant to do this for a very long time....this blog is for my decorating ideas/inspirations, and decor flops....

I am a 27 year old newlywed (of almost 2 years in June) with no kids, just ideas of how I want to live in my sanctuary. I am by no means an interior decorator (at least professionally) but I do possess the skills to give any room of a house or living space in instant "facelift". This love for interior decorating started when I lived in one of my apartments in college. My roommate moved out and I was officially living alone, so I could decorate the way I wanted to...I remember using as much color as possible in almost anywhere in my apartment, it was a small 2 bedroom apartment of about 650 square feet, I remember painting every room a different color and then in 4 months I would drop another 40 bucks to change the colors again in every room...it started with painting walls, but then I started to accessorize with trinkets...I remember those good ol days of decorating innocently, without a care in the world and having a great time doing it too.
Of course, a few years, a marriage, and one house later I find myself doing the same things over and over again...
Being in my late 20's now I can say my style has changed a bit since being in my early 20's...a bit more sophisticated, sleek, modernistic if that's even a word to describe style, but I know I still have my same ol' quirks. Over the years of living on my own I have added more and more possessions to my name. I still adore my plastic jett black battery powered coo-koo clock, which was purchased last year...Or even my collection of sugar/creamer bowls of various colors and assortments...I even still enjoy my ceramic vintage kitty coaster. It's the simple little treasures I adore the most and the fact I found all these favored objects from many places worldwide, and the adventure it was finding all of them.
Marrying someone with a style completely polar opposite of yours is quite a challenge too, he is what I call "Rustic" and I am "Vintage Eclectic". My style is defined as taking vintage items and repurposing them and giving a modern flare to it...for example, I love the style of old bird baths, only if I get to spray paint it hot pink or a chartreuse...Or I still love the look of chintz, just only in moderation (2 pillows there, or a reupholstered chair there) my husband still doesn't quite get my style, even after nearly 2 years of marriage and being an item for nearly 8 years...
I have upgraded from a small apartment to a small 2 story 110 year old house...lol it is a cute very quaint 2 bedroom house though, and I love the fact that it's 2 stories! my cats love the house too might I add! Even though my house is no more than 1,000 square feet, it gives me so much to work with! I would just love to paint the walls.....(have to ask my landlord first) so many different colors! I have a nice spacious living room, no dining room, a nice kitchen and my upstairs studio is the best ever!! the best part? my bedroom where my husband and I claim it our sanctuary. I believe a bedroom is one's sanctuary, a room where no one sees it, just you and your partner. It's a place where I rest, where I am intimate, where I hold my most deep pillow talks, and it's all mine! my bedroom style reflects my bedroom views, simple colors, beautiful afternoon light, flowing translucent curtains, humble dressers that stood at least 3 generations and the sands of time...and even a repurposed set of metal shelves I found that is spray painted a cobalt blue!
In many posts to come, I will share all of my ideas and inspirations...and I can't wait to do so!
